Requirements
- Demonstrated learning in manufacturing engineering best practices with CMs with complex builds, passion for emerging practices and automation, and continuous improvement
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills in fast paced manufacturing environment promoting problem solving development, accountability and engagement
- 10+ years of experience in electromechanical product-based manufacturing
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred)
- Masters degree in business, or relevant experience in managing in business environment
- Passion for manufacturing, automation and continuous improvement
- Experience with production best practices such as Scrum, LEAN, and Six Sigma
- Ability to independently lead cross-functional teams and projects to completion
- Ability to work globally across cultures
- Sharp analytical and mechanical mindset with demonstrated ability to mentor and train engineers
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills - can convey complex technical topics in simple terms across internal departments and external partners
- Experienced with issue escalation and driving accountability across internal and external teams
- Works well in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Willingness to travel 30-40% both domestically and internationally. Travel is often heavier during the product launch process and may entail extended periods working at CM locations
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and support New Product Manufacturing Engineering, Sustaining Engineering and Test Engineers working on all Markforged hardware products, subs and spares from design release through to the end of life
- Define standard work and best practices in the design for manufacturing efforts with R&D and PMO. Lead teams to review and approve engineering component and assembly drawings, work instructions and Engineering Change Orders
- Develop high performing team through mentoring/coaching, setting priorities, alignment of metrics and strategic planning in Operations
- Collaborate with sourcing teams to select, improve or transition contract manufacturer (CM) from early pre-pilot builds to sustained volume production
- Define continuous improvement process for annual, quarterly, monthly opportunities in process improvements in cost, quality and customer satisfaction
