Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position is in a shared services environment based at Epiq’s Overland Park, Kansas office and performs accounting functions in accordance with US GAAP. The position works closely with business unit and corporate personnel across Epiq’s various locations to identify and address accounting issues in an ever-changing environment. This position also provides deliverables for internal audit, external audit, and statutory accounting purposes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and post revenue adjusting journal entries,
• Prepare and review monthly closing binders,
• Review and analyze contracts or other financial agreements for revenue recognition implications,
• Ensure revenue is supported by the respective customer contract,
• Ensure revenue is recorded in the proper period and in accordance with applicable accounting standards,
• Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary data or resolve discrepancies,
• Prepare deliverables for internal or external audit, as needed,
• Provide support for budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis, as needed, and
• Identify and implement process improvements.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete special projects and other similar accounting duties as assigned by Director or Controller.

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

• Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting, specifically an understanding of ASC 606 and IFRS 15,
• Revenue modeling,
• Knowledge of internal and process-related controls,
• Ability to organize, meet strict deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team,
• High initiative,
• Strong problem solving and analysis skills,
• Excellent interpersonal skills,
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation),
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced business environment, and
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• BS in Accounting; Master’s degree preferred,
• CPA firm experience, including SEC reporting clients preferred,
• CPA certificate preferred,
• SAP experience preferred, or experience with other large ERP system,
• Alteryx or PowerBI experience is a plus,
• Advanced skills in MS Excel and other MS Office products required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

A typical work week is 40+ hours with overtime as required to meet business requirements and deadlines.

• Pay parity with the wider team in the considered location
