Responsibilities
  • Lead the coordination process with other disciplines.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in performing the contractual duties on site.
  • Processing of contract documents & assist contract administration.
  • Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s); coordinates application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
  • Advise the Project Manager / Resident Engineer of any technical aspects of the architectural works that may affect construction progress, quality and the like.
  • Hands on in monitoring the interior architectural works for conformance with the provisions of the contract documents and the procedures manual.
  • Reviewing, and processing all shop drawings and architectural technical submittals.
  • Answering RFI’s related to interior and architecture.
  • Review construction submittals from project inception to close-out.
  • Review Contractor's installation method statements.
  • Review Contractor's shop drawings against the design [tender] drawings for compliance with the design intent and return to project manager with appropriate comments / approval.
  • Review Contractor's material proposals against specified technical performance requirements and advise the Project Manager on the appropriateness of the proposals.
  • Review Contractor's proposed sub contractor(s) associated with the engineering works from a technical standpoint.
  • Monitors procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
  • Undertake general project site observation / inspection of the works for Contractor's adherence to the approved shop drawings and Consultant's specification, good working practices, the construction schedule and health & safety.
  • Lead the snagging and de-snagging process with an aim to progress the works to completion through this process.
  • Attend project, site progress and any related technical meetings as directed by the project manager.
  • Prepare draft site / engineer's instructions, relating to the project, as required and issue to the Project Manager.
  • Provide advice to the Project Manager about any variation costs that may be claimed by the Contractor during the course of the works.
  • Oversee architects and inspectors for all architectural work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
  • Ensures that the project quality control procedures are used for the construction supervision works and monitors it for improvement.
  • Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
  • Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current re vision level and correct technical execution of the work.
  • Performs works inspection requests and material inspection requests as required to support the project.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  • External Communications: Help others get the most out of external communications systems by offering support and advice.
  • Construction Management: Supervise others on a construction project, working within established operational systems.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Work Scheduling and Allocation: Assign short-term work schedules to a team of subordinates in order to achieve expectations while following established timelines.
  • Leadership and Direction: Communicate the local action plan; explain how this relates to the function's strategy and action plan and to the broader organization's mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals.
  • Performance Management: Respond to personal objectives and use performance management systems to improve personal performance; or monitor the performance of the team, allocate work and review completion, take appropriate corrective action to ensure timeliness and quality, and contribute to formal individual performance management and appraisal.
  • Organizational Capability Building: Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills.
  • Quality Assurance: Plan and coordinate testing and inspection of products and processes. Implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives and monitor them to make sure they are effective.
  • Operational Compliance: Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
