The opportunity
On the Design Research & Strategy team, our mission is to lay a user-centered foundation for Adobe product design and development. We are seeking a Sr. Experience Researcher to partner with product managers, designers, and engineers on our 3D & Immersive team. In this role, you will drive research from initial early explorations through to shipping product in a highly collaborative environment, focused on the Adobe Substance 3D application suite and related products.
What you’ll do
- Assess project scope, form appropriate research questions, and identify appropriate research methods (developing new methods as needed), and run research studies from start to finish. This work includes: setting a research roadmap each quarter for your topic area, developing realistic research plans and materials, recruiting participants, and synthesizing data into findings.
- Advocate for the customer by articulating research findings and product ideas through clear and insightful presentations across Adobe.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and test iterations of design explorations across formats as appropriate including desktop applications, immersive headsets, mobile platforms and more.
- Build alliances across the company to identify new partners, drive collaboration, and deeply understand the business and technical context of research problems.
What you’ll bring to the team
Must-haves:
- Significant hands-on research experience, with at least five years in an industry setting (e.g. UX/product research, market research, consulting, etc.)
- Mixed method research skills that include conducting and analyzing large scale quantitative survey data and running qualitative studies.
- Experience with 3D tools / CAD design / VFX /Games pipelines OR user research experience involving 3D creative professionals.
- Experience with or curiosity to learn Adobe Substance 3D tools, or other 3D design applications.
- An understanding of the product life cycle and can time research to have maximum impact.
- Able to handle areas (user/product/domain) that may be ambiguous or ill-defined.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Can collaborate well across all project roles (design, research, product management, engineering, etc.).
- Can proactively identify and communicate clear product solutions based on these findings, sometimes across departments.
- Experience communicating work at the management, director and VP levels.
- An undergraduate degree from a 4-year, accredited institution.
- Ability to work from the Eastern Time zone in the US. (This person will frequently collaborate with teams both in the Pacific Time zone and in the Central European time zone.)
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Experience working in new product development, incubation or innovation spaces.
- Experience and/or curiosity about Generative AI and/or Immersive technologies (VR/AR/XR).
- An advanced degree in Human Computer Interaction or Human Centered Design & Engineering.

Adobe Design builds tools that amplify the world’s ability to create and communicate. We’re a global team of designers, researchers, prototypers, content strategists, program managers, and more who work across Adobe’s three product lines: Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, and Experience Cloud.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $121,800 -- $223,000 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.
At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
