We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to develop accurate and competitive bids for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects throughout the Houston area.
The Estimator will manage the bidding process from initial plan review through project handoff, performing detailed takeoffs, analyzing project requirements, obtaining subcontractor and supplier pricing, and preparing complete proposals.
The ideal candidate has strong commercial electrical estimating experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids while collaborating with Project Managers, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to determine scope and pricing requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop complete bid proposals, scope clarifications, pricing summaries, and value engineering recommendations.
- Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, project risks, exclusions, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, general contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, and internal teams throughout the estimating process.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope review meetings as needed.
- Support project turnover by providing estimate breakdowns, budget information, and scope clarifications to operations.
- Maintain estimating databases, historical pricing, bid records, and vendor relationships.
- Stay current with material costs, labor rates, market conditions, and industry trends.
- Manage multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- 5+ years of commercial electrical estimating experience.
- Experience estimating commercial and industrial electrical construction projects.
- Experience with healthcare, education, institutional, municipal, or other complex electrical projects is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, NEC requirements, construction methods, drawings, and specifications.
- Proven experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and preparing complete bid proposals.
- Proficiency with electrical estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or similar platforms.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify scope and pricing risks.
- Residential-only estimating experience will not be considered.
