Requirements
  • 10+ years experience in MRO or aircraft maintenance and/or a combination of maintenance and CAMS related work.
  • Must be proficient with CAD and CAMS software.
  • Expertise in reading, interpreting, and enforcing standardized manufacturing processes, work instructions, and engineering drawing and process procedures to suggest a repair strategy to a cognizant engineer.
  • 2+ years’ experience with CAMS equipment.
  • Must be able to interpret data from Engineering requirements, translate those requirements within CAMS software and author reports to define tool conformance.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of engineering.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to work on-site 5 days per week.
Responsibilities
  • Reviews Engineering requirements and validates conformance of tooling (non-production) assets, authors inspection reports noting actual dimensional findings to Tool Quality for approval.
  • Supports verification of compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements on new tool designs.
  • Develops and implements repair strategies for non-conforming assets in conjunction with Tool Engineering.
  • Tracks and analyzes repair data to make recommendations on future projects or process/procedures within the tooling manufacturing ecosphere.
  • Coordinates improvements in tool engineering designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Creates, assists or approves supporting processes and related documentation.
  • Manages projects using approved project management techniques.
  • Assists with consultation and training on procedures and processes related to Innovation development, tool fabrication and CAMS methodologies.
  • Participates on product development teams and identifies producibility issues to maximize efficiency.
  • Communicates with internal/external stakeholders to ensure products and services compliance. Works under general direction.
  • Researches and identifies alternate technologies including robotics, automation or technology recommendations and system integration for equipment and tooling in improve current manufacturing methodologies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may be requested to support other programs as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • 10+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated proficiency in CATIA software, utilizing its advanced capabilities for 3D modeling, design, and analysis to support complex engineering projects effectively.
  • Experience with ATOS or similar laser tracking systems to setup/recycle Special Tooling.
  • Skilled in the use of both hand and power tools, ensuring precision and safety in all fabrication and assembly tasks while adhering to industry best practices.
  • Possess strong problem-solving abilities, adept at identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and applying lessons learned to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in subsequent tasks and projects.
  • Familiarity with Boeing specification, processes and procedures for Special Tooling.
  • Knowledge of material selection for tooling applications, including composites, aluminum, and steel.
  • Experience with cost estimation, budgeting, and procurement for tooling projects.
  • Understanding of ergonomic and safety considerations in tooling design and manufacturing.
