Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant certificate or diploma program is required.
  • At least two years of experience as a Medical Assistant is required, preferably including at least one year in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is required.
  • Knowledge of ICD-9 coding, data collection for billing procedures, and charge posting is required.
  • Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team is required.
  • Ability to problem-solve and work independently is required.
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities and workflow is required.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Fire Life Safety Training certification is required for Los Angeles City assignments; if unavailable upon hire, it must be obtained within 30 days and renewed before expiration.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and organize efficient clinic workflows for in-person and telemedicine visits across Primary Care.
  • Monitor and resolve scheduling issues or patient complaints during clinic hours.
  • Monitor patient laboratory and imaging activities and assist with prior authorizations for ambulatory prescriptions and prescription refill management.
  • Perform office and clerical duties.
  • Maintain patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality, and maintain a safe environment in accordance with applicable standards, policies, and safety regulations.
  • Order clinic supplies under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor.
  • Assist physicians with minor clinical procedures, including staple removal, suture removal, and wound care.
  • Act as a lead and mentor to Medical Assistant staff and ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and operational workflows.
  • Orient, precept, and onboard new staff and monitor staff competencies.
  • Perform in-person or telemedicine intakes, obtain and accurately record patient vital signs and medication lists, and complete all fields required by policy and procedure.
  • Ensure that policies, procedures, and operational workflows are followed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Spanish language skills are preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
