Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of workers' compensation claim-adjusting experience is required.
  • Preferred claims experience includes carrier backgrounds and work in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
  • Active licensing in applicable states is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to deliver complex information effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are required to manage complex tasks and work through solutions with little guidance.
  • Advanced knowledge of jurisdictional regulatory and statutory requirements and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and Medicare Set-Aside requirements is required.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in claim adjudication, medical management, and litigation management are required.
  • Advanced ability to analyze multiple focus areas using several data points and take necessary action is required.
  • Ability to make claim decisions that mitigate exposure while achieving the best outcome is required.
  • Ability to use skills to overcome conflict and reach beneficial outcomes is required.
Responsibilities
  • Independently handle all aspects of workers' compensation claims from setup through closure.
  • Evaluate and handle high-dollar, high-exposure, complex claims.
  • Conduct timely three-point contact investigations and continue investigating as case facts change.
  • Mitigate complex exposure while achieving the best outcome.
  • Make timely and accurate compensability decisions within statutory requirements.
  • Set and adjust timely and accurate reserves within authority limits in accordance with case facts and company best practices.
  • Present claims to senior management and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Administer statutory medical and indemnity benefits throughout the life of each claim.
  • Comply with applicable statutory guidelines, rules, and regulations.
  • Control legal activity with defense counsel throughout the litigation process while managing legal fees and costs.
  • Prioritize early-resolution opportunities, evaluate claim exposure, and negotiate settlements.
  • Serve as a point of contact for partner agents and customers by providing claim guidance and setting expectations for the claim process.
  • Provide claim status, coverage verification, and loss-run reports to agents and insureds as needed.
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers and business partners.
  • Advocate for a leading claims customer experience.
  • Continuously improve claims operations by identifying opportunities and gaps in claim service, standard operating procedures, protocols, and processes.
  • Mentor junior adjusters.
  • Use Google Workspace tools and collaboration tools such as Slack.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with some college coursework is preferred.
  • Claims experience in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee is preferred.
