  • Four-year engineering degree (automotive related) or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of automotive development or equivalent experience. Active or passive safety preferred.
  • Computer literacy, particularly word-processing and spreadsheet ability; other Microsoft Office products; and Internet research.
  • Proven research abilities are required. Ability to apply related engineering principles and practices to safety and advanced technology-related technical projects and processes.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate information submission concerning safety compliance and consumer ratings (NCAP, IIHS, Consumer Reports) of North American (NA) market vehicles.
  • Research, investigate, and benchmark competitors’ components, systems, and structures along with regulatory compliance strategies related to passive and active safety.
  • Monitor, track and report on federal and state legislation and regulations related to vehicle telematics systems, associated data management and hardware/software sourcing restrictions affecting on-board and off-board systems.
  • Monitor and report on emerging trends and regulations on other advanced in-vehicle technologies like OTA, V2X, UWB, and others.
  • Interact with entities including but not limited to NHTSA, FCC, IIHS, NTSB, the Alliance for Automotive Innovation (AfAI), other vehicle manufacturers, Mitsubishi North American Affiliate offices (MMNA and MMSCan), and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC).
  • Ensure that items of importance to Mitsubishi Motors are reported on in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and seek Manager approval for release of work products on light-duty vehicle safety and connectivity matters. Advise MMC on recommended actions.
  • Support work on analysis and strategic recommendations in a timely manner to MMC on US regulatory activities; guide MMC in its comments for rulemaking or other government-initiated actions; help to consolidate MMC/MMNA input.
  • Represent MRDA/MMC at US industry vehicle safety and connectivity committees and workgroups and inform MMC in a timely manner on related discussions, and advise MMC on recommended actions.
  • Support MMSCan on vehicle safety and connectivity related matters upon request.
  • Act on requests from MMC for: interpretations of vehicle safety and connectivity regulations and associated compliance test procedures; technical Information (test results); background information on future/on-going rulemakings; and other related requests.
  • Plan, coordinate, witness, analyze, and document safety testing of Mitsubishi vehicles sold in the NA market.
  • Represent the company on vendor/supplier business issues upon request.
  • Participate in teleconferences/video conferences, meetings, workshops, etc. as appropriate.
  • Travel domestically and internationally, as needed.

Preferred Networks, Ai Development Unicorn, Raises 19B Yen Including Debt Financing—Sbi And Mitsubishi Corporation Among Investors

Preferred Networks (PFN), a developer of AI solutions and semiconductors, announced on December 23 that it has raised 19 billion yen in its latest funding round.The round was led by SBI Group, with participation from SEKISUI HOUSE Innovation & Communication, Development Bank of Japan, Mitsubishi Corporation (TSE: 8058), and Wacom (TSE: 6727). The total includes debt financing from Shoko Chukin Bank, SMBC, MUFG Bank, and Resona Bank.Prior to this funding, PFN signed a basic agreement with SBI Holdings in August for capital and business alliance focused on next-generation AI semiconductor development and commercialization.PFN plans to continue raising funds through spring 2025. With this latest round, the company’s total known funding has reached approximately 36 billion yen.
