The role

This is a chance to join a passionate team leveraging cutting-edge AI to improve mental health access globally. As a Senior Product Engineer, you will play a critical role in building the systems and services that make the Ash product possible.

As a core member of a small but highly skilled team, we expect you to act as an owner and to care passionately about keeping our systems scalable, performant, and secure. Once you’re embedded in the team, you will get the opportunity to lead projects of your own, with goals to make our products better, faster, and more reliable.

You will have the opportunity to interact and contribute to our entire tech stack. From our backend services (Kotlin), our mobile app (Flutter/Dart), internal tooling (Next.js/TypeScript), and model training pipelines (Python). We use gRPC and GCP (Kubernetes, Cloud Run) as our primary cloud provider.

About you:

• Thrive building mobile and web applications zero-to-one. Working with different technologies across the whole vertical, including frontend, databases, and any relevant infrastructure.

• Strong software engineering experience in multiple general-purpose programming languages and with modern technologies and architectures, e.g. microservices, message queues, caching layers, and databases (ideally, SQL and NoSQL)

• Driven by building a world-class product with a world-class team, want to own what you build, and you’re comfortable building and throwing away code.

• Experience working in a fast paced environment, working at lightning speed to ship fast.

• Self starter and a keen learner with an ability pick up new tools, languages, and concepts on the job. We don’t need you to be an Machine Learning Engineer, but having an interest in AI helps!

Key responsibilities:

• Collaborate within our core Engineering team, Product Manager and Designer to quickly design, build, and launch new features in our app, taking ownership of the whole stack.

• We encourage everyone to be comfortable working in all parts of our stack, which includes the app (Dart/Flutter), internal tooling (Next.js/TypeScript), and ML scripts for evaluation, data processing, and model training (Python).

• Elevate user experience by continually refining app reliability, performance, and polish.

• Rapidly investigate, diagnose, and resolve bugs to ensure product stability.

• Taking initiative to independently prototype new features based on customer feedback and your own product intuitions.
