Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent area of study is required.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on engineering experience supporting advanced manufacturing is required.
  • Demonstrated success improving production metrics through intelligent design, process implementation or augmentation, or other means is required.
  • Experience empowering a team to act decisively and take calculated technical risks to keep production moving is required; mentoring experience may substitute for formal direct people management experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, root cause analysis, and analytical thinking are required.
  • Experience working with automated or semi-automated fixtures is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical mentorship and people management to a small team of 2–4 manufacturing engineers and technicians who refine and support existing equipment, design and maintain processes, and develop fixturing; own the output and professional growth of direct reports.
  • Understand, debug, and alter complex proprietary equipment designed by the in-house automation team, and perform hands-on root cause analysis as the team's technical escalation point.
  • Coordinate product and equipment introduction and change control processes on the manufacturing floor, and develop systems for smooth research and development to operations hand-offs.
  • Own technical excellence and systemic integrity across all product manufacturing lines; lead and organize the team to detect and address quality or yield issues while balancing rapid-response firefighting with long-term solutions.
  • Provide practical guidance to production technicians and collaborate on strategy with the research and development, quality, and operations departments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of programmable logic controllers is useful but not required.
