Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Five years of experience in a related discipline managing multiple complex projects for a significant duration; Houston Methodist employees may qualify with four years of experience and demonstrated progressive responsibility.
  • A master’s degree combined with a Houston Methodist fellowship satisfies all experience requirements.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English to perform essential job functions, especially activities affecting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Strong communication, presentation, analytical, interpersonal, project-management, and time-management skills.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills, including creating pivot tables, performing VLOOKUPs, and managing large data sets.
  • Intermediate word-processing and presentation-software skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive sponsor, project-team-member, internal, patient, physician, family-member, and coworker relationships.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally.
  • Ability to exercise resourcefulness, independent action, appropriate judgment, adaptability, and effective problem-solving.
  • Ability to work in business-professional attire and travel within the Houston metropolitan area as required.
Responsibilities
  • Initiate, define, and manage high-profile, complex projects and set the strategic direction for the assigned area.
  • Own the full project life cycle from planning and design implementation through measurement and maintenance of desired outcomes.
  • Monitor milestones, identify potential barriers, and provide innovative recommendations and solutions to support successful execution and stabilization of processes.
  • Prepare and disseminate project analyses, assignments, timelines, progress reports, communications, business cases, and presentations for leadership review.
  • Establish clear project communication, lead problem resolution, identify project-scope needs and constraints, and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Execute project requests from customers and department leadership and serve as a liaison among client groups and stakeholders at multiple management levels.
  • Lead and participate in meetings, drive decision-making, and identify next steps.
  • Direct, develop, and implement operational projects; manage project teams, scope, goals, critical success factors, progress, and deliverables.
  • Advise on complex business decisions by identifying needs, making assessments, and solving problems.
  • Work with leadership teams across departments to identify priorities and achieve organizational alignment across projects.
  • Participate in quality-improvement teams and drive quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze, measure, and drive project performance using data-gathering tools and methods; communicate data analyses and findings to management, entities, and committees.
  • Develop and lead project-related training, education, and communication strategies; provide related feedback and metrics.
  • Operationalize strategic plans, execute deliverables, track project status, coordinate deadlines, identify barriers, and implement resolutions.
  • Use software applications to create and compose non-routine and sensitive senior-management communications and reports.
  • Use efficient and cost-effective practices, recommend expense reductions, and complete accurate expense reports.
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plans for all project phases and support complex financial decision-making related to project scope.
  • Analyze present and future needs, trends, challenges, and opportunities; participate in departmental strategic planning.
  • Generate and communicate ideas that improve quality or service and support hospital and department goals through innovative solutions.
  • Complete and update the individual development plan and participate in career discussions with management.
