Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent in mechanical, ocean, structural, or civil engineering.
  • At least eight (8) years of experience in an appropriate technical discipline and/or industry.
  • The management skills to organize, plan and direct the work activities of other professional employees.
  • The human relations skills necessary to organize, direct and motivate entry, mid-, and senior level professionals.
  • Knowledge of applicable API (2C), ASME (B30), ISO (19354, 19360), IEC (60945, 60529), and IEEE (1580, 45) standards.
  • Familiarity with FEA-FEM Based modeling.
  • Knowledge of Marine and Offshore lifting appliances.
  • Knowledge of related technical disciplines.
  • Knowledge of applicable Rules and Regulations and the impact of Rule applications and interpretations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve complex or unique engineering problems.
  • Ability to undertake short- and long-term planning to provide for efficient and effective scheduling of work assignments.
Responsibilities
  • Directing and monitoring project work related to cranes, underwater vehicles, and containers.
  • Leading and assigning work according to priority.
  • Acting as a technical resource and mentor to engineers.
  • Assisting in the development of short- and long-range business plans and related annual operating and capital expense budgets.
  • Preparing annual performance appraisals.
  • Evaluating and communicating individual performance appraisal issues with staff members and recommending compensation adjustments.
  • Reviewing Designer’s/Manufacturer’s qualification package for compliance with requirements.
  • Attending technical meetings with OEM’s and Designer’s to ensure project progress and issue resolution.
  • Providing day-to-day leadership of Engineering staff and monitoring project progress.
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality service and maintenance of good customer relations.
  • Performing detailed engineering review of plans for compliance with applicable Rules, Standards, Regulations, and contract requirements.
  • Devising new approaches to problems and recommending changes in methods, procedures, or design.
  • Monitoring the technical quality, content, consistency, continuity, and timeliness of action of all assigned projects.
  • Advising assigned staff in matters related to applying Rules and Regulations.
  • Maintaining liaison with other engineering specialists internally and externally.
  • Monitoring assigned engineers' performance, development potential, and training needs.
  • Implementing and maintaining the Company’s Quality System within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Preparing accurate billing for clients.
