About the Team

The role will be part of the "Building Blocks Team" at Nutanix, which focuses on developing foundational software components for database management and autonomous databases. This team is dedicated to creating scalable frameworks that enhance the efficiency of workflow management systems. Located in one of Nutanix’s office hubs, the team embraces a culture centered around collaboration, technical excellence, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The mission of the team is to innovate and improve database management solutions, ensuring that they meet evolving customer needs and contribute to the overall success of Nutanix’s products.

You will report to the Sr. Manager, Engineering, who fosters a supportive and transparent leadership style, emphasizing open communication and collaboration within the team. The work setup is flexible, with a hybrid model allowing for a combination of remote and on-site work. The new hire is expected to be in the office for an average of 3 days a week, promoting team cohesion while also accommodating for remote work flexibility.

Your Role

Architect, design, and develop scalable distributed systems
Engage in design/code reviews and define development & test best practices
Mentor junior engineers and drive technical excellence
Build innovative solutions that cater to customer needs
Collaborate with architects, tech leads, and product managers to drive clarity on goals and outcomes
Manage priorities, deliverables, and timelines
Work in a geographically distributed team setup

What You Will Bring

Experience in building & scaling distributed systems
Experience in building engineering products
Strong programming skills in GoLang or Java
Knowledge about Database management systems (both SQL, NoSQL)
Experience with orchestrator/ workflow management systems like Temporal
Understanding of Kubernetes and containers
Experience with microservices and data processing frameworks
"Think big, start small, make it happen" mindset.
A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is required.
Experience of 7+ years developing highly scalable and available software.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $136,800 and USD $273,600 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Hybrid:This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. For most roles, that will mean coming into an office a minimum of 2 - 3 days per week, however certain roles and/or teams may require more frequent in-office presence. Additional team-specific guidance and norms will be provided by your manager.
