About the Product Designer role
We are looking for a Product Designer on a fixed-term basis to play a critical role in transforming our user experience and advancing the next generation of our issuer and payment platforms.
You will leverage your strong UX skills, particularly in replatforming, zero to one initiatives or cross product design, ideally within fintech or other complex, regulated environments.
You will influence the organization to develop a customer-centric mindset, elevate the design function, and advocate for design best practices. The Product Designer will drive stakeholder engagement, and proactively conduct research to inform and refine our design strategy.
The Product Designer will work closely with engineering and product teams, you will cater to a broad user base, ensuring that our solutions are configurable, customizable, and extensible. You will contribute to complex, cross-product design initiatives, aligning business goals with user needs to create exceptional experiences.
What you will be doing as a Product Designer
Expertise
- Taking proactive ownership of design projects and broader improvement efforts, consistently pushing for high-quality results.
- Managing diverse stakeholders effectively, ensuring smooth cross-functional collaboration and alignment on design goals
- Prioritising, planning, and coordinating UX research and design efforts across multiple product initiatives within a focused product scope.
- Coordinating and driving larger operational initiatives or thematic improvements, requiring minimal supervision.
Role-Specific
- Exhibiting exceptional skill in applying UI/visual design principles to create visually compelling, intuitive, and consistent product interfaces.
- Planning, conducting, and analysing strategic UX research to uncover, understand, and define customer needs, pain points, and journeys.
- Utilising a lean, hypothesis-driven approach to research and design, focusing on identifying minimum viable solutions and iteratively validating assumptions through rapid feedback loops.
- Applying insights, analysis, and creativity to execute UX strategies that drive meaningful outcomes for both customers and the business, directly influencing the product roadmap.
- Facilitating workshops with cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring a user-centred design approach.
Communication
- Presenting UX research and design work to the broader product and design teams, sharing progress early and often to gather feedback.
- Communicating your design approach, progress, and results openly and clearly, ensuring alignment with stakeholders at all levels.
Business Knowledge
- Engaging with company strategy as part of the broader leadership team, translating strategic objectives into actionable UX initiatives and measurable design experiments.
What you will bring to the Product Designer position
- Expertise working in technology and/or SaaS organisations
- Expertise in Figma, Sketch and similar tools
- Familiarity with Axure or equivalent
- User Research techniques; Proficient in various user research methodologies, including interviews, usability testing, surveys and A/B testing
- Front-End development; An understanding of modern FE languages and frameworks
- Strong portfolio demonstrating zero to one or complex initiatives
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders to drive customer centricity
- Experience leading changes to an already established design system
- Experience working with engineering to support UI development, providing concise handovers and best practices
- Strong skills in visual design, interaction design and prototyping
- The ability to work on multiple projects at any one time, operating at different paces
- The ability to work and operate autonomously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, balance high-level UX strategy with detailed execution
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product Managers and Developers to deliver exceptional user experiences
