  • Ability to manage imaging orders, pre-certifications and insurance among scheduling and documentation
  • Ability to interface with ordering providers and obtain requisite clinical information
  • Ability to operate equipment and perform CT interventional procedures including ablations, biopsies, drainages, and Endo leak glueing
  • Ability to set up and assist interventional procedures as scrub nurse
  • Ability to perform CTA imaging and advanced CTA studies including Trans Catheter Aortic Valve Replacement and Endovascular Aneurysm Repair
  • Ability to provide correct CTP coding and charges for procedures and supplies
Responsibilities
  • Obtains CT images according to established protocols.
  • Ensures the patient is properly prepared, positioned, immobilized, protective shielding used when applicable and correct technical factors are selected.
  • Performs I-Stat blood test.
  • Translate Results for contrast procedures.
  • Dispense appropriate oral contrast to patients based on patient history and protocol.
  • Performs venous access for patients requiring IV contrast administration as directed by a radiologist.
  • Perform CT Interventional Procedures and assist Interventionalist including preparation of sterile procedure trays and providing supplies for biopsies, drainages, aspirations, Endo leak Glueing, and Ablations, maintaining interventional inventory.
  • Operating Cryo, Radiofrequency, and microwave ablations, including equipment setup and operation.
  • Performs CTA imaging: Carotid, Head, Vertebral, Run-Offs, Pulmonary Embolism bolus timing.
  • Advanced CTA studies such as Trans Catheter Aortic Valve Replacement, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair and Cardiac imaging.
  • Maintain knowledge to operate different CT Systems at multiple locations and ensure protocol adherence.
  • Maintain protocol adherence to Image Gently Guidelines and dose data integration with alerts for preset level exceedances.
  • Interpret technical factors to optimize image quality and speed of scan.
  • Interface with ordering providers regarding correct exams to order, required labs and pertinent clinical information.
  • Maintain inventory management system for CT supplies and perform quality control tests on equipment; report irregularities.
  • Utilize Life Image image management for scans from outside hospitals and import images to Picture Archiving and Communications System when requested.
  • Handle non-controlled medications for imaging exams and tray setup as required.
  • Ensure equipment and supplies are cleaned, sterilized and in working order.
  • Maintain knowledge of pharmacology to ensure lab results are obtained prior to scheduled exam and assess drug interactions with IV contrast; manage medications used during Cardiac scanning.
  • Maintain knowledge of physics to minimize patient dose on CT scanner.
  • Provide accurate CT Protocol (CTP) coding and charge capture for patient procedures and supplies
  • Prepare and review pre-certification patient and insurance information to schedule exams timely
  • Maintain relationships with ordering providers to verify appropriate exams and clinical information
