Requirements
  • A B.A. or B.S. degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
  • One to two years of direct fundraising experience with demonstrated ability to lead others toward a common goal, or equivalent experience, is required.
  • A valid driver’s license or equivalent alternate transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.
  • The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to interact professionally and diplomatically with alumni, parents, administration, faculty, and students.
  • The candidate must have excellent writing, public speaking, training, and presentation skills and be able to represent the College regarding philanthropy, the annual fund, and alumni participation.
  • The candidate must have superior organizational skills, be able to work independently with minimal direction, work well with others, and be extremely detail-oriented.
  • The candidate must handle activities involving confidential information with discretion, courtesy, and sound judgment.
  • The candidate must have strong computer and database skills, preferably involving customer relationship management systems and spreadsheets.
  • The candidate must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Responsibilities
  • Support the strategic initiatives of the Office of Annual Giving, including managing ad hoc or affinity-based solicitation and communications projects.
  • Maintain a small portfolio of direct annual giving assignments for cultivation and solicitation of annual support.
  • Support Reunion program initiatives by systematizing solicitation plans and creating stewardship content.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward volunteers to make gifts to the College, including traveling to meet, solicit, or train volunteers as needed.
  • Serve as the primary staff member responsible for pulling reports and building queries in the Raiser’s Edge database as a power user within the team.
  • Manage activity calendars for all volunteers and work with Alumni Weekend and Reunion staff class liaisons to maximize messaging coverage, frequency, and variety.
  • Analyze and report key metrics to the Executive Director of Annual Giving, Alumni Weekend and Reunion committees, Crown Society volunteers, Parents Fund volunteers, the CMC Alumni Association, and the Parents Network Board, including progress and challenges faced by each group.
  • Create and modify training handbooks and welcome guides for Annual Giving collaborators as needed.
  • Train volunteers to solicit gifts for specific initiatives, including Reunion, the 1946 challenge, and Going for the GOLD, at ImpactCMC Weekend, regional training events, and one-on-one conversations.
  • Steward volunteers through event recognition, inclusion in communications, and notes of appreciation.
  • Attend work regularly and meet attendance requirements.
  • Take and follow directions, work cooperatively with others, respond appropriately to constructive criticism, maintain a positive attitude, and balance multiple tasks and priorities.
Desired Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree from a selective liberal arts institution is preferred.
  • Experience in annual giving, alumni class giving, or volunteer management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with advanced features of the Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint, mail merges, and VLOOKUPs, is preferred.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
  • A strong customer service background is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the selective, private higher education landscape is preferred.
