Requirements
  • Working knowledge and understanding of International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses standards.
  • Strong project management skills for identifying, developing, implementing, monitoring, and revising performance-improvement initiatives related to central sterile decontamination services.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to draft, edit, and produce training manuals and compliance reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Prior experience in decontamination, sterilization, and assembly of surgical instruments and devices.
  • Experience creating and effectively providing educational curricula.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • A bachelor's degree, or an associate's degree with International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification (CRCST), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to ensure regulatory compliance with cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes throughout the organization, including developing and performing process tracers.
  • Ability to develop and perform competency assessments related to cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization.
  • Ability to work comfortably with all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the health system.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to travel locally to all UC Irvine Health Sterile Processing locations.
  • Ability to demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Ability to provide proof of legal authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop, implement, monitor, and revise performance-improvement initiatives related to central sterile decontamination services.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes throughout the organization.
  • Develop and perform process tracers related to cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization.
  • Develop and perform competency assessments related to cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization.
  • Create and provide educational curricula.
  • Draft, edit, and produce training manuals and compliance reports.
  • Safeguard sensitive employee, student, patient, financial, strategic, proprietary, and other non-public information in accordance with organizational policies and data-protection laws.
Desired Qualifications
  • Training in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • A nursing degree or higher education related to healthcare.
  • Knowledge of UCI policies and procedures.
