  • Juris Doctor
  • Licensed, or eligible to become licensed, to practice law in Illinois
  • 1+ years of experience in business taxation in a multinational firm or professional firm
  • Technical knowledge and experience in U.S. domestic tax law (including business tax planning, modeling, tax practice and procedure issues, entity selection, and partnerships)
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future
Responsibilities
  • Provide advice regarding U.S. federal income tax issues related to renewable energy and general tax matters (coordinate advice from other members of the tax team regarding state and local tax issues)
  • Work closely with the Capital Markets and Project Development teams to evaluate and analyze the tax impacts of complex financing transactions related to U.S. solar, wind, and energy storage projects in the U.S., as well as tax credit qualification issues
  • Review business transactions (including M&A) to identify tax implications and provide well-thought-out recommendations that account for Invenergy’s tax attributes
  • Manage relationships with outside tax advisors
  • Work closely with tax team members who focus on tax legislation
  • Stay current with changes in the tax law
  • Provide tax advice to the tax compliance team (e.g., write memorandums that explain the tax treatment for specific transactions)
  • Lead-cross functional initiatives from start to finish and manage special projects
