Department Description
Bonner Leaders are selected through an application and interview process before they begin their academic careers at HPU. Their commitment to service and leadership throughout high school is rewarded with compensation via Federal Work-Study payment of $10.00 per hour for a total of $3000 per year. Bonner Leaders serve 300 hours a year, as well as meet weekly in coursework. Bonner Leaders create a network of advocates and mentors both on campus and in the community. Bonners also take retreats together, and regularly travel around the country, representing HPU at national service and leadership conferences. They are awarded honor cords upon graduation.
Job Description
Job Descriptions vary by community partner site and the strengths and interests of individual students. Bonners are given the opportunity to craft their Community Learning Agreement and Bonner Leader Position Descriptions in collaboration with their Site Supervisors and other Bonner Leaders.
Job Location/ Hours Required
The candidate will perform most/all job duties at a community partner site. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires 8-10 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Meet monthly with all Bonner Leaders.
- Work at assigned service site 8-10 hours per week.
