Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum 5 years of organ procurement experience required
Responsibilities
  • Directs both referral intake and onsite response, optimizing systems and workflows to ensure no opportunity for donation is missed.
  • Collaborates with the quality department to identify and implement improvements to the death record review process.
  • Works with approach staff and leadership to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
  • Coordinates with Clinical Managers and Administrators on Call to ensure resources are deployed to maximize approach and authorization opportunities.
  • Collaborates with Hospital Development to build and maintain strong relationships with hospital partners to foster seamless donation opportunities.
  • Ensures referral monitoring includes clinical assessments, hospital care plans, and family communication status.
  • Updates policies and procedures and oversees ongoing training of staff in receiving and evaluating incoming donor referral calls, determining medical suitability, and obtaining authorization/facilitating Donor Designation.
  • Partners with information technology staff to create relevant electronic reports to monitor trends and inform improvement strategies.
  • Participates in national and/or regional workgroups to enhance authorization practices.
  • Supports and engages with Hospital Services staff in various Hospital Development initiatives.
  • Participates in the call schedule to ensure efficient operation of donation activities.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • CPTC certification preferred
