Responsibilities
  • Design and develop algorithms and models using large datasets to create business insights.
  • Select, utilize, and interpret advanced analytics methodologies.

  • Lead and manage large and complex projects and teams.
  • Prioritize work and ensure the quality of deliverables.

  • Provide technical education on advanced analytics to the data science community.
  • Partner with Information Technology to evaluate new tools and maintain technical agility for data science.
  • Seek new business opportunities to leverage data science as a competitive advantage.
  • Attend conferences and publish papers to develop knowledge of key data science developments.
  • Develop replicable solutions, including codified data products, project documentation, and process flowcharts.
  • Define best practices and develop a clear vision for data analysis and model productionalization.
  • Own the library of reusable algorithms and ensure developed code and models are documented.
  • Develop mastery in prescriptive modeling techniques such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search, or natural language processing.
  • Travel overnight less than 10% of the time.
Desired Qualifications
  • A PhD in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Expertise in a modern scripting language, preferably Python.
  • Expertise running queries against data, preferably using Google BigQuery or SQL.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Expertise with data visualization software, preferably Tableau.
  • Expertise in prescriptive modeling such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search, or natural language processing.

The Trump administration is refunding approximately $166 billion in tariff revenue after the Supreme Court struck down its sweeping tariff policy, having returned $100 billion so far. Despite studies showing consumers bore the brunt of initial tariff costs through higher prices, most companies are reinvesting the refunds rather than passing savings to shoppers. Retail executives indicated in earnings calls they plan to put the money back into their businesses. Consumers have filed class-action lawsuits against companies receiving refunds, but none have concluded. Americans have limited recourse to recover funds if companies don't voluntarily lower prices.

Home Depot's Temco Logistics lays off 223 workers across three US states

Home Express Delivery Service, operating as Temco Logistics, is laying off 71 workers in Dallas as it closes its flatbed delivery centre in the Mountain Creek neighbourhood. The facility at 9222 W. Jefferson Blvd. will shut down, with affected employees being separated from employment beginning 26 September. Temco Logistics, a delivery and logistics company providing last-mile and white-glove delivery services for appliances and furniture, was acquired by The Home Depot in 2023. The company has filed similar notices in Florida and Georgia, where it is also closing flatbed delivery centres, resulting in a total of 223 job losses across three states.

Morgan Stanley sees $420 upside in Home Depot amid housing market freeze

Morgan Stanley has maintained its overweight rating and $420 price target on Home Depot following the company's first-quarter fiscal 2026 results, calling it "a turnkey stock without the turn".
