Requirements
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must have customer service experience and/or a proven ability to work with the public.
  • Must be organized and able to plan and manage several ongoing projects independently and with others without constant direct supervision.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in person, by phone, and online.
  • Must have a flexible schedule for daytime, nighttime, and occasional weekend program assistance.
  • Must have demonstrated experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
  • Must be able to meet and manage tasks and deadlines.
  • Must be dependable and able to use discretion and sound judgment when handling and disseminating highly sensitive stakeholder information.
  • Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and learn and apply procedures.
  • Must be able to operate and troubleshoot standard office machines, including personal computers, scanners, fax machines, copiers, shredders, Cricut machines, and calculators.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Canvas/WebCampus.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as an Arts Ambassador for the Office for the Arts during on- and off-campus program activities, including events, tabling, booth setup, maintaining proper attire, and speaking with prospective students, parents, and external organization representatives.
  • Work on campus and off campus as an ambassador, event check-in assistant, docent, and event or meeting setup and takedown assistant.
  • Assist in recruiting arts programming participants and promote opportunities for prospective and current students to engage with the arts at Nevada State.
  • Maintain notes and confidentiality of files created in the program office that contain sensitive information.
  • Provide in-class presentations about the Office for the Arts and its programs and events, or provide approved presentations as requested.
  • Assist with developing programming, workshops, presentations, events, and gallery exhibitions, and identify and develop areas of expertise for presentations.
  • Create social media content, flyers, and other promotional material for review by the Senior Advisor and Executive Director for the Arts.
  • Assist with art installation and deinstallation.
  • Complete monthly and yearly inventory.
  • Photograph collections and exhibitions for archives and promotional materials.
  • Develop, schedule, and lead tours of the collections and temporary exhibitions.
  • Collect data for arts proposals, program evaluation, and audience building.
  • Gather data and artifacts for required reporting.
  • Provide customer service when communicating with the campus and public by phone, email, video, and in person at the Office for the Arts, arts events and exhibitions, and other campus and community activities.
  • Support general operations by copying, ordering, printing, and stocking office and promotional material.
  • Attend one-on-one meetings with the Senior Advisor and Executive Director for the Arts to discuss job responsibilities and mentoring opportunities.
  • Assist with office support, including creating and editing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Perform clerical and organizational tasks, including scheduling tours, appointments, and meetings; printing; making copies; scanning; filing; and record keeping.
  • Provide administrative support for arts fundraising, grant research, proposals, and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of one year of customer service experience and/or experience in the hospitality or retail sector.
  • Event planning experience, preferably with on-campus events.
  • Strong knowledge of the Nevada State campus and the Nevada State Collections & Galleries, with the ability to conduct campus art tours with prospective donors; training will be provided if needed.
  • Previous coursework or related experience in the arts, public history, or other related arts and culture experience.
