Requirements
  • Practical and theoretical expertise of thermodynamics and all forms of heat transfer
  • Proficiency in analyzing multi-phase fluid flow and heat transfer (experience with cryogenics preferred)
  • Familiarity with thermal control systems for the space environment
  • Experience developing thermal-fluid loads derived from literature, CFD, or test data
  • Experience with 1D system models (SINDA/FLUENT), 3D FEA thermal/fluid modeling tools (Thermal Desktop), Python, and Simulink
  • Ability to lead

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or similar
Responsibilities
  • Build system level thermal models of the launch vehicle and engine assemblies
  • Perform engineering analysis to trade and down select competing launch vehicle designs
  • Own budgets of flight propellant and pneumatic commodities
  • Execute test campaigns to characterize new materials and designs
  • Communicate design details and requirements to hardware designers
  • Review test and flight data to anchor models and troubleshoot problems
