  • Experience of at least one of the programming languages commonly used in data science and scientific programming (such as Python, R, or Julia)
  • Experience analysing high throughput genomic datasets such as RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, or WGBS
  • Experience with genomic-specific computational workflow platforms (such as DNANexus or NextFlow)
  • Competent using Unix-based operating systems, associated technologies and data management tools
  • Strong team player with experience working in a collaborative environment (academic or industry)
  • Enjoy working as part of a fast-moving and results-oriented business where delivery against deadlines is critical
  • Ability to communicate complex topics appropriately to an array of different backgrounds and audiences
Responsibilities
  • This is an exciting opportunity for a Bioinformatician that enjoys external contact and wants to work with our early adopting customers helping them get the most out of CEGX's analysis tools. The role will place the incumbent at the boundary between our core software development team and the users, acting as a bridge between biology and informatics. You can expect to be building tools, dashboards and supporting product development activities, as well speaking directly to our clients to help them get the most out of their experiments. This is a diverse role, that would suit someone who has a strong biology background, but who has moved into statistics, data analysis and informatics and loves big data biology
  • Key Responsibilities:
Desired Qualifications
  • Expertise in software development best practices (version control, code review, pair programming, agile/scrum, testing, etc.)
  • Experience using and deploying systems on cloud platforms (such as GCP or AWS)
  • Good knowledge of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, database systems)
  • Experience developing software to support AI/ML or Data Visualisation applications
  • Understanding of Epigenomics, Cancer Biology, Cancer Epigenomics/Genomics Field, Immunology

Biomodal stands out as a leader in the life-sciences technology and analytics sector, with its unique duet multiomics solution that allows for more epigenetic information extraction from a single, low input DNA library, without the need for complex bioinformatics or harsh chemical treatment. This single-base-resolution, phased sequencing approach provides a competitive edge by combining genetic and epigenetic information in one workflow, offering deeper biological insight in areas such as cancer, neurodegenerative disease, and ageing. The potential applications of their technology, as emphasized by CEO Peter Fromen, particularly in oncology, liquid biopsy, aging, and neurodegenerative disorders, further solidifies Biomodal's position as an industry frontrunner.
