- A bachelor's degree in a clinical field is required, with eligibility as a registered nurse, medical technologist, or registered respiratory therapist.
- At least three years of clinical experience is required, including demonstrated experience with quality initiatives within a healthcare institution.
- Ability to pursue learning opportunities related to infection prevention and control.
- Knowledge of spreadsheet generation, graphics, and word-processing applications.
- An active nursing license is preferred.
- Licensure or certification in infection control through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology is required within three years of hire and must be renewed every five years.
- Communicate corporate quality and safety initiatives to all team members and physicians.
- Develop and monitor action plans for clinical quality and infection-prevention improvement.
- Lead implementation of quality, safety, and service strategies across departments.
- Collaborate with performance-improvement teams and quality councils to identify and act on improvement opportunities.
- Monitor hospital progress on quality scorecards and Board metrics.
- Participate in and lead performance-improvement activities aimed at reducing infection risks.
- Ensure compliance with infection-control practices and regulatory standards, including JCAHO, AHCA, OSHA, CMS, and CDC requirements.
- Develop and maintain health-system policies and procedures that meet national infection-control standards.
- Conduct surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
- Investigate infection clusters and outbreaks and compile data into actionable reports.
- Educate employees on infection-prevention practices and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and deliver educational programs across the organization.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with medical staff, hospital leadership, and allied health and support services.
- Collaborate with operational and clinical teams to support a culture of safety.
- Participate in the integration of healthcare technology and information systems to support service needs.
- Use data analytics to inform infection-prevention strategies and performance metrics.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Infection Prevention and Control Program.
- Conduct focus reviews and facilitate resolution of infection-control issues.
- Lead infection-prevention and quality committees.
- Report findings and recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance with Baptist Health and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Represent Quality Services and Infection Prevention on assigned committees and task forces.
- Provide education and training related to quality and patient safety for staff.
- Produce analytical reports and improvement plans for constituents.
- Visit departments within Baptist Health to promote quality and safety, serve as a resource to staff, observe daily operations, and identify opportunities for process improvement or enhanced patient safety.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- An active nursing license is preferred.
