  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting is required.
  • A Certified Public Accountant license is required.
  • At least 8–12+ years of progressive accounting and Securities and Exchange Commission reporting experience is required.
  • Experience combining Big Four and public-company industry Securities and Exchange Commission reporting is required; experience with a New York Stock Exchange-listed issuer is preferred.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and other Securities and Exchange Commission filings is required.
  • A strong technical accounting background with the ability to research, document, and conclude on complex accounting matters is required.
  • Experience managing external auditors and coordinating quarterly and annual audit activities is required.
  • Experience with Workiva, Securities and Exchange Commission filing software, and Extensible Business Reporting Language reporting is required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with all organizational levels is required.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy are required.
  • The ability to perform the listed physical duties, including extended sitting and standing, walking on stairs and uneven terrain, bending, reaching, and lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Own the end-to-end Securities and Exchange Commission reporting process, including preparation, review, and filing of Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and Section 16 Form 4 filings.
  • Collaborate with Securities and Exchange Commission legal counsel to prepare and file annual proxy statements.
  • Ensure compliance with Securities and Exchange Commission regulations, Regulation S-X, and Regulation S-K.
  • Research and document accounting disclosure requirements, including the effects of new company transactions and new generally accepted accounting principles literature or guidance.
  • Collaborate with Investor Relations, Legal, Treasury, and operational departments to ensure complete and accurate Securities and Exchange Commission disclosures.
  • Drive process improvements through automation, standardization, and optimization of the financial reporting cycle.
  • Improve use of Workiva and other reporting technologies to increase reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Communicate with external auditors regarding financial statement audits and technical accounting matters.
  • Oversee compliance with Extensible Business Reporting Language and Inline Extensible Business Reporting Language reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal and external tax advisors on tax provisions, tax accounting, uncertain tax provisions, and income-tax disclosures in Securities and Exchange Commission filings.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external tax service providers on quarterly tax provisions and state and federal tax-return matters, coordinate support for those providers, and review their deliverables for accuracy.
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memoranda supporting accounting conclusions.
  • Serve as the technical accounting lead for key Sarbanes-Oxley Act review controls by assessing, documenting, and supporting accounting judgments involving stock-based compensation, variable-interest-entity analyses, earnings per share, inventory impairment, and capitalized overhead.
  • Prepare and update company accounting policies in a codified Accounting Policy Manual.
  • Evaluate and document internal controls over financial reporting related to Securities and Exchange Commission reporting and technical accounting processes.
  • Oversee equity compensation administration and related accounting, including recordkeeping, accounting, compliance, and Securities and Exchange Commission reporting.
  • Coordinate with Legal and internal stakeholders on corporate governance and entity-maintenance activities, including subsidiary records, annual state filings, franchise-tax filings, board and subsidiary resolutions, and legal-entity documentation.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external accounting services for the captive insurance entity and oversee its accounting cycle.
  • Oversee financial reporting and the external audit of the captive mortgage company.
  • Prepare and review ad hoc analyses and special projects requested by senior leadership.
  • Supervise a Senior Finance Analyst.
  • Prepare annual reports and file them with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • Prepare and file tax returns and communicate with regulatory authorities when issues arise.
  • Communicate with and respond to external auditors regarding financial reporting.
