Requirements
  • Satisfactorily completed formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school.
  • Demonstrated competency in at least two modalities (X-Ray, CT, Fluoroscopy, etc).
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • CRT permit
  • Fluoroscopy Permit in accordance with California State regulation.
  • ARRT permit
  • CPR/BLS from American Heart Association
  • Consistently produces quality digital images within hospital guidelines and department standards (i.e. patient safety, repeat rate, exam protocols, image processing, etc.)
  • Accurately completes documentation according to hospital and department guidelines, including exam performed, film labeling, computer entry, etc.
  • Maintains clinical competency assuming responsibility for upgrading skills through in-service education, maintaining necessary department competencies and other continuing education activities.
  • Participates in the training of departmental team members and students in a willing manner.
  • Assists MD and other staff in preparing for and performing procedures consistently, following sterile technique, infection control guidelines and department standards.
  • Understands and implements department quality control/quality improvement plans performing QC/QI activities as assigned.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals and utilizes the standards throughout their workday and when coming in contact with all patients.
  • Evaluates personal and department work volume and flow to insure efficient departmental patient care.
  • Prioritizes work according to urgency and resources.
  • Responds effectively in emergency situations.
  • In all duties, uses supplies and resources efficiently and cost effectively.
  • May be responsible for specific inventory and stocking of supplies.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of department.
Responsibilities
  • Image Quality: Consistently produces quality images within hospital guidelines and department standards (i.e. patient safety, radiation safety, repeat rate, exam protocols, image processing, etc.)
  • Documentation: Accurately completes documentation according to hospital and department guidelines, including exams performed, billing, image labeling, computer entry, etc. Performs other clerical duties as necessary (place orders, maintain film file, maintain PACS files, etc.) Ensures other staff members also comply with these documentation standards.
  • Clinical Information: Obtains patient clinical information that may affect diagnostic testing including allergy history, pregnancy, etc. Documents and communicates this information to the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Competency/Training: Maintains clinical competency assuming responsibility for upgrading skills through participation in inservice education and other continuing education activities. Participates in the training of other departmental personnel and/or students.
  • Work Flow: Evaluates personal and department work volume and flow to insure efficient departmental patient care. Prioritizes work according to urgency and resources. Responds effectively to emergency situations and adjusts staff as necessary. Communicates patient care issues to Nurse Manager. May act as supervisor in the absence of Department Manager.
  • Quality Control/Quality Improvement: Understands and implements department quality control/quality improvement plans performing QC/QI activities as assigned.
  • Resource Utilization: In all duties, uses supplies and resources efficiently and cost effectively to include adjusting staff to meet the needs of Radiology services. Places calls to stand-by Technologists as necessary to ensure prompt delivery of services to patients. May be responsible for specific inventory and stocking of supplies. Maintains cleanliness and order of department.
