  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with specialization in business, hospitality, and/or food services management preferred.
  • At least five years of demonstrated successful experience in food services and/or the hospitality industry.
  • At least five years of demonstrated successful experience managing weddings and events.
  • Understanding of and passion for the culinary and hospitality industry and providing an excellent guest experience.
  • Knowledge of retail restaurants, public dining, food and beverage catering of all types, facility rental and event management services, operational policies, vendor management, vendor/operator contracts, budgeting, and financial management.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong facilitation, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet analysis and word processing software.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods, use computers and office equipment, perform administrative duties in office, gallery, or exhibit environments, and access public and staff areas of the museum campus.
  • Ability to regularly set up, adjust, and operate a computer/keyboard and other office equipment used to generate work and transmit data.
  • Ability to move items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to remain stationary for up to seven hours.
  • Ability to pass a background check after a conditional job offer.
  • Adherence to the museum's professional standards, code of ethics, Employee Handbook, protocols, procedures, rules, and policies; maintenance of confidentiality and respectful conduct toward coworkers and visitors.
Responsibilities
  • Support internal event planners by coordinating building operations with facilities, security, audiovisual, retail, and other internal service teams, submitting staffing requests, and coordinating with the third-party food and beverage provider.
  • Provide on-site, day-of-event execution support for internal events and external events as needed.
  • Serve as liaison to the exclusive third-party food and beverage provider and ensure successful integration with the museum for facility rental and internal event operations.
  • Foster a proactive and collaborative working environment between the third-party food operator and museum departments, including marketing, development and membership, learning and engagement, visitor services, retail, finance, the executive office, and facilities.
  • Process museum staff requests for internal catering efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Attend and review internal and external facility-rental events to maintain customer service, quality, and professionalism among the operator, museum team members, and external contractors.
  • Ensure facility-rental and internal event operations align with the museum's mission and standards, including sustainability and visitor experience.
  • Support the operator and museum team so they can operate effectively within the museum with minimal disruption to other museum operations.
  • Facilitate museum approvals for menus, menu pricing, uniforms, signage, hours of operation, marketing materials, and advertising.
  • Coordinate the operator's interface with the facilities department to ensure museum-owned buildings, equipment, fixtures, furnishings, and facilities are properly maintained and serviced.
  • Ensure effective visitor-feedback mechanisms are in place for facility-rental and internal event sales and operations, and respond directly when appropriate on behalf of the museum.
  • Review facility-rental and internal events and operations to ensure consistent service and professionalism from the operator.
  • Oversee and monitor the operator's key performance metrics relating to visitor satisfaction, food and beverage quality, service standards, food safety, and sanitation; use museum evaluation instruments to determine results, corrective action, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
