Requirements
  • A current license as a Speech-Language Pathologist is required.
  • The role requires providing pediatric, family-centered speech therapy in an outpatient clinical setting.
  • The clinician must participate effectively as a member of the Individualized Education Program team and provide services according to the written plan when needed.
  • The clinician must comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements, including confidentiality and infection-control procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Assess and interpret evaluations and test results.
  • Determine speech therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
  • Carry out treatment plans that support functional improvement across the lifespan.
  • Help patients accomplish goals outlined in treatment plans and use therapeutic devices and strategies effectively.
  • Complete discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare workers and contributing to patient care conferences.
  • Document patient care services in patient and department records according to applicable law.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect clinic operations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, personal networks, and professional societies.
  • Develop speech therapy staff by providing information and developing and conducting in-service training programs.
  • Study existing and new legislation, anticipate future legislation, enforce adherence to requirements, and advise management on needed actions.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Participate as an Individualized Education Program team member and provide services as part of a comprehensive education plan in accordance with the written plan when needed.
