Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience is preferable.
  • Five or more years of Inland Marine underwriting experience, with demonstrated productivity and profitability and strong business acumen related to building a profitable book of business.
  • Strong knowledge and technical expertise of commercial Inland Marine exposures, risks, forms, coverages, and market capabilities.
  • Strong portfolio management, production, organization, and time management skills, with an understanding of the company's business objectives.
  • Ability to travel as required for marketing, production, and producer management activities.
Responsibilities
  • Produce, select, underwrite, and service profitable Inland Marine business in accordance with all department guidelines.
  • Produce, select, and underwrite Inland Marine risks within delegated underwriting authority, including construction, transportation, or other authorized classes of Inland Marine.
  • Apply appropriate account selection, coverage, and pricing techniques according to department guidelines.
  • Monitor underwriting results, premium, and loss trends within the assigned book of business.
  • Establish and execute effective and efficient producer and client visits, in conjunction with other internal units and Marketing Representatives as necessary, to maintain existing accounts and develop new business.
  • Coordinate with inter-company departments, producers, insureds, Distribution, and Marketing Representatives to ensure appropriate high-level account management standards are maintained.
  • Enhance underwriting expertise in Inland Marine, including assisting in the training and development of department staff.
  • Help develop and implement best practices in account management.
  • Assume a leadership role in the organization to positively influence staff and promote a positive image of MSIG in the marketplace.
  • Develop agency relationships and build a profitable book of business.

MSIG USA has appointed Carrie Brodzinski as chief underwriting officer. She brings nearly 30 years of specialty underwriting and leadership experience to the role. Brodzinski joins from The Hartford, where she served as chief underwriting officer for Global Specialty since 2021. Her career includes senior underwriting leadership positions at AXA XL and AIG, as well as product leadership roles at Beazley, Travelers, Chubb, and Executive Risk. As chief underwriting officer, Brodzinski will lead MSIG USA's enterprise underwriting strategy across the company's specialty businesses. She will oversee underwriting performance, portfolio management, and the evolution of data and technology capabilities. Brodzinski earned a Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Science in marketing from the University of Connecticut.

Brodzinski joins MSIG USA from The Hartford, where she has served as chief underwriting officer for Global Specialty since 2021. Her career spans underwriting leadership, product development, portfolio management and underwriting transformation, with extensive experience developing and executing underwriting strategies across complex specialty businesses. Prior to The Hartford, Brodzinski held senior underwriting leadership positions at AXA XL, including head of global underwriting management and senior vice president of underwriting. Earlier in her career, she served as deputy chief underwriting officer and head of underwriting excellence for Financial Lines in the U.S. and Canada at AIG, where she led initiatives spanning underwriting strategy, quality and controls, operational efficiency, product development and technology. MSIG USA and MSIG Hong Kong collaborate to support ADB financing program.

MSIG USA and MSIG Hong Kong collaborate to support ADB financing program. August 11, 2026 MSIG USA and MSIG Hong Kong, on behalf of MS&AD Insurance Group, are supporting a Master Framework Program with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) designed to expand access to financing across Asia and the Pacific. Through the program, participating insurers will provide risk-sharing support that can help ADB unlock up to $2.5 billion in financing for small businesses, affordable housing and other underserved borrowers. The collaboration brings together expertise from MSIG USA's Political Risk & Trade Credit team and colleagues across MSIG to support an innovative risk-sharing solution that can expand ADB's lending capabilities and contribute to sustainable economic growth throughout the region. The agreement was formally signed in Tokyo on August 11, with Shinichiro Funabiki, President and Group CEO of MS&AD Insurance Group, joining representatives from ADB and other participating insurance organizations.
