The Plant Engineering organization provides engineering oversight, program support, and qualified staff to support the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) mission. Near term support is provided by the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC). The mission includes safely storing, treating, and immobilizing the highly hazardous radiological wastes created during prior periods of nuclear processing at the Hanford Reservation. The Plant Engineering organization and programs provide the framework for executing engineering work. Plant Engineering personnel are responsible for the technical adequacy of Plant Engineering products and decisions. This position is within the plant installed software group and is responsible for the software configuration identification, change control, and configuration status control up to retirement. Plant installed software includes the Integrated Control Network (ICN) developed software and ICN support software.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
Advise on routine commercial and developed software upgrades in accordance with software quality procedures
Assisting the team in the resolution of business or engineering problems through the design and implementation of software applications on automated systems
Authoring software project plans, requirements, design, and test plans and reports and reviewing the work of others
Designing and implementing new or existing complex software application programs and reports according to project software standards and conventions
Performing commercial and developed software upgrades in accordance with software quality procedures and aiding others in the same.
Performing Oracle database administrator activities and provides guidance to other software engineers.
Performs work under without direct supervision.
Troubleshooting and resolving minor issues related to system interfaces
Support operations, maintenance, and commissioning of the WTP Facilities
Remain apprised of operational status and ongoing modification activities
Provide technical review of facility/system related procedures and work instructions
Assist with resolution of design issues necessary to support plant operations and/or maintenance
Interface with subcontractors, vendors, and project support groups
Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments
Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work to protect self, others, and the environment

REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate (or higher) Degree related to science, technology, engineering, mathematics, computer/software science, or environment management or,
Equivalent competency through related education or specific training and experience in an area of expertise that support Plant Engineering.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of control system and/or programmable logic controller (PLC) experience
Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Experience:
One year of nuclear facility experience
Experience in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities
Experience with national consensus codes and standards
Experience with software change control processes and procedures
Experience with software quality engineering principles for the management, design, and testing
Programming experience with asp.net; ABB Industrial/Distributed Control System Applications, Visual Basic, C++, and/or C#; MS Access, Oracle, and/or MS SQL Server database querying
Website development and maintenance desired
Experience with the implementation of Integrated Safety Management (ISM) work control process.
Experience developing maintenance work instructions and supporting documentation
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual- Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $87,011.43 - $133,126.59 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
