Platform Experience: This team empowers developers to extend Jobber’s capabilities and build innovative solutions that help home service businesses thrive. Our team owns Jobber’s API and developer ecosystem, enabling seamless integrations with partner functionality. Leads: Our Leads team is building a brand new capacity in Jobber, the ability to track, identify, and action leads. For our Service Providers (SPs) it can be time consuming to track your intake pipeline, and they often resort to external tools to manage those pipelines, which complicates getting crucial customer data in Jobber. Leads is working on bringing that lifecycle into Jobber, so with just a few effortless clicks our SPs can manage their intake pipelines, better respond to customer inquiries, and better shepherd a "maybe," Service Customer into a recurring client they can depend on.

The role of Staff Software Engineer at Jobber:

As a technical champion and force multiplier, you lead and mentor teams of exceptional engineers while collaborating closely with Product and Design partners to tackle complex technical challenges. Your expertise spans architecture, design, and hands-on coding, allowing you to have a significant impact on the product and our customers. A portion of your time is allocated to "Staff Dev Projects," which may include cross-team initiatives, work acceleration within your team, exploration of emerging technologies, addressing technical debt, or investing in the future of engineering at Jobber. 

Responsibilities Breakdown:

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and iteratively deliver high-impact features that address customer needs
• Partner with Product and Design teams to shape and define the strategic product roadmap
• Identify and lead large-scale initiatives that drive innovation across multiple teams or departments
• Actively participate in code reviews and testing processes to ensure code quality and maintainability
• Champion the development of consistent engineering practices and reusable code solutions to enhance overall efficiency
• Lead and facilitate group discussions to drive consensus on optimal solutions for complex customer problems
• Research, promote, and implement industry best practices within your team's domain, staying at the forefront of technological advancements
• Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members at all levels, fostering their professional growth and career development

To be successful, you should have:

• Demonstrated expertise in developing highly scalable, robust software solutions across multiple layers of the technology stack
• Hands-on experience using tools like ChatGPT, Cursor, and Copilot in your workflow, refining how you balance AI-driven efficiency with the craft of software development.

• Experience with our development stack: React, React Native, TypeScript, GraphQL API layer, and Ruby on Rails on AWS.

Hiring Process and Team Match-Making:

Work Environment:

At Jobber you will choose where you do your most impactful work from! You can work from home across Canada, or in a hybrid setting from one of our offices in Edmonton (HQ) or Toronto.

At Jobber, we believe that compensation should be transparent, fair, and supportive of your experience and growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $145,900, a midpoint of $171,600, and a maximum salary of $197,400, designed to reflect the progression from learning the ropes to truly excelling. 

We design our compensation to reflect each new hire's skills, experience, and the complexity of the role, ensuring a fair and competitive salary. Our range is intentionally broad to support growth and long-term impact, with fully established hires typically starting around the midpoint. The higher end of the range is reserved for those who have demonstrated deep expertise and lasting contributions, while offers below the midpoint reflect strong potential with room to develop. This approach ensures that compensation aligns with both an individual's current capabilities and their opportunity for future growth.
