Requirements
  • Hold a PhD or equivalent in statistics or a closely related quantitative discipline.
  • Bring a strong publication record in statistical methodology or computational biology, relative to career stage.
  • Develop novel statistical methods for high dimensional or complex biological data, including genomics or transcriptomics.
  • Demonstrate success securing competitive research funding and building national or international collaborations.
  • Excel in designing and teaching statistics or data science subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Contribute positively to inclusive, collaborative academic environments and to School and Faculty service.
  • A Working with Children Check is required for the position.

Responsibilities
  • Lead an independent, high-impact research programme in statistical methods for high-dimensional omics and related data.
  • Publish in leading statistics and computational biology venues and actively seek competitive external research funding.
  • Design and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in statistics, data science, and applied mathematics.
  • Supervise and mentor honours, Master of Science, and PhD students, supporting their development as independent researchers.
  • Contribute to School, Faculty, and Melbourne Integrative Genomics leadership, governance, outreach, and engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with statisticians, biologists, computing experts, and biomedical partners on omics challenges.
