Requirements
  • A master's degree in a relevant field, such as Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Political Science, or another social science, with strong quantitative method training.
  • Demonstrated ability to use at least one major data tool, such as R or Python.
  • At least one year of experience teaching at the college level in data analysis, research methods, or quantitative reasoning.
  • Comfort working with students from diverse disciplinary and professional backgrounds, including students without strong math or coding foundations.
  • Ability to begin teaching on August 25, 2026, and teach the course on Wednesday evenings.
  • Applicants must reside in Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, or Virginia.
  • Candidates must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Teach the graduate Data Ethics course synchronously online via Microsoft Teams.
  • Maintain a Canvas site for course resources.
  • Help students understand the interactions between analytical tools and methods for evaluating, designing, and improving public policies.
  • Provide a framework for analyzing the ethical and fair use of big data.
  • Investigate ethical issues arising from data-driven societal decision-making, including bias, fairness, privacy, surveillance, discrimination, and data collection, storage, and management.
  • Use case study analysis and hands-on experiments to help data professionals understand the ethical implications of data analytics and artificial intelligence.
  • Focus on policy matters and global governance standards.
  • Guide students through individual projects and team-based work.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Ph.D., J.D., or other terminal degree in a relevant field, such as Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Political Science, or another social science, with strong quantitative method training.
  • Previous experience teaching a graduate-level data ethics course in person or online.
  • Experience teaching graduate-level courses in data analysis, research methods, or quantitative reasoning.
  • Ability to teach diverse learners, including students with policy, nonprofit, or humanities backgrounds.
