The Memory and Storage architecture team (led by Intel Fellow Frank Hady) is actively pathfinding software and hardware architectures with close memory integration to speed the processing of Large Language Models. The team is approaching the full system architecture from both the memory hardware (bottom) and python software (top) ends of the architecture to meet in the middle at the platform level with a full solution researched. We seek an intern interested in AI software and platform architecture who will contribute to the effort to help define and prototype the software capabilities targeting optimized CPU and GPU access to computing elements distributed with memory.
In this role you will contribute to software development using C/C++ and python. You will also benchmark and profile to identify the bottlenecks and generate new ideas to improve. The position offers strong opportunity for learning about AI in general and storage support for AI in particular. You’ll work directly with Principal Engineers and Fellows.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar field and currently pursuing a Masters or PhD (Preferred)
- Experience with software development in one or more programming languages (C, C++, Python), and with data structures/algorithm.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of AI or HPC platform, network, and system architecture.
- Knowledge of AI/ML algo and frameworks (Pytorch, TensorFlow), network, and system architecture.
- Experience with distributed file system development
- Experience with Linux kernel or other open-source software development

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in
US, Colorado, New York, Washington, California:$63,000.00-$166,000.00

Work Model for this Role
This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
