Requirements
  • The candidate must be enrolled at least half-time, defined as 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate students or 3 credit hours per semester for graduate students.
  • The candidate must maintain a Texas A&M International University overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students or 3.0 for graduate students.
  • The candidate must meet all other requirements stated in Texas A&M International University's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
  • The candidate must be proficient in using a personal computer workstation with common software applications.
  • The candidate must be able to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • The candidate must have customer service skills.
  • The candidate must have interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
  • The candidate must have problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • The candidate must be able to learn and use multiple software programs.
  • The candidate must be able to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • The position requires on-campus, face-to-face interactions and regular attendance on campus and in the workplace.
  • The candidate must promptly complete all required training and submit a timesheet biweekly.
Responsibilities
  • Handle routine office inquiries from employees and students.
  • Assist with the physical relocation of computer equipment.
  • Install computer equipment, including connecting peripherals such as monitors, keyboards, and mice, and connecting the equipment to the university network.
  • Assist users with diverse computer-related and telephone issues.
  • Use Bomgar software to remotely connect and chat with users to resolve issues.
  • Assist with updating workstations with recent patches to the current operating system and other applications.
  • Maintain required documentation.
  • Decommission nonfunctional computers and equipment for surplus.
  • Work on special projects, including physically mounting network and network-related equipment and preparing computers with an updated software image.
  • Maintain inventory of software, desktop hardware, network hardware, and communication connections.
  • Ensure that applicable areas of the university's information systems and services comply with Texas A&M International University rules and standard administrative procedures, Texas A&M University System policies and regulations, PCI security standards, FERPA, HIPAA, copyright laws, and the State of Texas Administrative Code 202.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
