Requirements
  • Registered Nurse licensure is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of obstetrics experience is required, preferably in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within the organization is required.
  • The role requires bilingual Spanish and English ability as a preferred qualification.
  • The position requires the ability to spend considerable time sitting and reaching.
  • The position requires the ability to spend prolonged periods in front of a computer.
  • Travel between sites is required.
  • U.S. work authorization must be verified as required by federal law.
Responsibilities
  • Provide primary administrative oversight of the obstetrics program while providing care to obstetrics patients.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of the obstetrics team.
  • Collaborate with organizational leaders to ensure quality patient care for obstetrics patients.
  • Collaborate with organizational leaders to provide a consistent patient experience across points of entry and clinical sites.
  • Supervise, train, and support obstetrics nurses.
  • Provide training and support to the medical assistant and nursing teams for obstetrics patient needs.
  • Coordinate Centering Pregnancy and Parenting Groups for patients at MCHCC.
  • Develop and manage obstetrics lists, workflows, and protocols.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and the Site Director on hiring, firing, and performance management of obstetrics nurses.
  • Coordinate obstetrics care with community partners and organizational leaders.
  • Collaborate with the cross-disciplinary care team to address patients' holistic needs.
  • Coordinate care for obstetrics patients.
  • Coordinate Centering Pregnancy groups with the CAPS and Maple City Group Facilitator.
  • Provide oversight to the Doula program.
  • Facilitate and lead monthly obstetrics meetings, including Obstetrics Coordination and Obstetrics High Risk meetings.
  • Lead Elkhart County Fetal and Infant Mortality Review meetings with the Elkhart County Health Department.
  • Participate in the Building Strong Brains Maternal and Child Health Action Team and potentially co-chair the group if appointed.
  • Maintain skills competency through scheduled training and lead obstetrics nursing skills competencies for staff who need them.
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support Certification is preferred.
  • A Trauma-Informed Care approach is preferred.
  • Motivational Interviewing training is preferred.
