- Complete assessments for substance use concerns and withdrawal, identifying symptoms, patterns, and risks.
- Provide accurate clinical summaries and reviews to psychiatric providers to develop appropriate clinical dispositions.
- Formulate after-care plans and help patients navigate the care system and secure needed follow-up clinical appointments.
- Perform de-escalation interventions independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Complete reassessments and ongoing clinical interventions for identified treatment targets.
- Facilitate and manage transfers to involuntary, voluntary, and CCIS units for ongoing care.
- Complete crisis evaluations, screening assessments for involuntary commitment, risk assessments, safety plans, and clinical reevaluation assessments.
- Complete departmental reporting documentation and data collection processes.
- Complete required legal documentation for involuntary, voluntary, and pediatric psychiatric admissions.
- Complete insurance authorizations and follow-up to obtain coverage for the needed level of care.
- Conduct and document collateral information and reports when clinically indicated.
- Provide family intervention, support, and psychoeducation regarding the care system, psychiatric admission, the involuntary process, and aftercare planning.
- Collaborate with nursing, psychiatric providers, social work, medical providers, and peer specialists as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Maintain professional relationships with external legal and professional agencies involved in patient care.
- Participate in short-term treatment goal planning and aftercare treatment plans.
- Contribute to departmental quality and safety initiatives.
- Provide direct patient support, interventions, and clinical care in the emergency department in coordination with nursing, medical, and behavioral health teams.
- Assist with assessments, authorizations, and discharge planning for additional crisis sites remotely as requested.
- Collaborate and coordinate with departmental leadership.

Atlantic Health and K Health announced on Aug. 11 the launch of two new digital healthcare innovations: Atlantic Health PatientGPT, a clinical artificial intelligence tool, and Virtual Primary Care, designed to improve access to primary care physicians at any time. According to the announcement, Atlantic Health PatientGPT is integrated with the health system's electronic health record and patient portal. The tool provides personalized health information based on each patient's medical profile, allowing individuals to explore symptoms and health concerns. It also connects users directly with Atlantic Health services and care teams, offering the ability to schedule same-day or same-hour appointments through Atlantic Virtual Primary Care.
