Requirements
  • Candidate must possess a High School Diploma or GED plus one year of post high school education or relevant work experience required.
  • Candidate must possess and maintain active status as a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
  • One year minimum retail pharmacy within past 5 years, one year minimum experience in a health system pharmacy. Equivalent alternate pharmacy experience is acceptable.
Responsibilities
  • The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician is certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
  • The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician works under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist, performs those duties which do not require the professional training and judgment of a pharmacist.
  • The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician has specialized knowledge in pharmaceutical nomenclature, medical terminology and mathematical calculations involving dilution of concentrates, weights and measures and ratios.
  • Skills in aseptic compounding of intravenous medications are validated using competency-based training as a frequent quality control audits.
  • The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician consistently performs and builds on prior knowledge gained from performance as a Pharmacy Assistant and National Certification requirements.
  • The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician maintains good business practices to ensure success of company within the mission of Fletcher Allen Health Care.
