The Role:
The Commercial Product Pricing Strategy Director assists in leading the ongoing development of CDK’s commercial offerings (pricing strategy, price setting, packaging/bundling, etc…). Responsibilities include evaluating alternative offering design and pricing strategies to determine how to configure and price new and existing CDK solutions. The Commercial Product Pricing Strategy Director drives value-based pricing decisions through deep understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, and cost structures. This leader dedicates 30-40% of their time to strategic initiatives, including market expansion, competitive response, and performance optimization. This individual must come with proven ability combine hands-on execution with team leadership, leveraging analytical, project management, and communication skills to deliver actionable recommendations to senior executives.
Essential Functions:
- Lead development and implementation commercial offering (pricing and packaging) strategies and policies, working closely with stakeholders across functional areas.
- Work with Product Managers and Marketers to establish the pricing strategy and commercial offering design for all new solutions. Develop the presentation materials that are presented to the Senior Executive team for approval.
- Lead cross functional teams in various areas of the company to monitor, re-engineer and implement commercial offerings for existing CDK solutions. Create proposals with supporting data and gain consensus from the Senior Executive team in order to implement.
- Review and analyze the company’s product pricing in comparison to the competition. Make recommendations to the Senior Executive team to bridge any competitive gaps.
- Perform and leverage secondary research and analysis on market, industry, consumer, and competitor trends; be able to synthesize findings into insights and practical recommendations.
- Perform financial analysis & modeling to build business cases for strategic and tactical commercial decisions.
- Partner with key stakeholders to develop and review specialized pricing agreements. This includes the development of the actual offer, creation of any specialized internal processes and monitoring to ensure that the terms of ELA’s are maintained.
- Develop discounting strategies and policies to guide quoting decisions and maximize profitability. Present proposals to the Senior Executive team for approval
- Communicate Commercial Offering recommendations to VP, Senior Executive Team and other Senior Executives.
- Partner with Marketing to educate identified functional areas. Includes the creation of the presentation materials and communication to the groups.
- Partner with business functions to monitor execution of defined strategies
- Responsible for business requirements of new product configuration/pricing systems and successful implementation.
- Partner with the functional areas to train sales, marketing, BDC and operations on new product strategies. Includes the creation of the presentation materials and communication to the groups.
- Partner with cross functional teams to develop short- and long-term pricing/packaging strategies to solve P&L challenges (revenue or margin). This could include pricing promotions, new packaging or customer incentives. Create proposals with supporting data and gain consensus from the Senior Executive team in order to implement.
- Partner with cross functional teams to create and modify sales tools used by the sales team to create sales proposals. Includes the development of quantitative value propositions and deal analytics that are used by the RGM’s and DOS’s to understand the revenue/profitability of new deals.
- Partner with cross functional teams to drive the integration of all acquisitions. This includes the development of pricing, packaging, new programming and new processes for contracting and billing. Present any new pricing or packaging to the Senior Executive team for approval.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required with MBA or equivalent experience (minimum 5-7 years post college) strongly preferred
- 4+ years of relevant professional experience in technology, management consulting or investment banking
- Experience in developing and executing commercial strategies, specifically pricing strategy, price setting and offer configuration
- Strong analytical and financial skills
- Self-starting, team player capable of prioritizing own work and/or problems simultaneously
- Used to working in complex and ambiguous environment that is fast changing
- Structured, organized individual who is capable of handling multiple tasks and driving towards results
- Ability to organize, lead, and motivate ad-hoc teams to drive towards completion of high-quality deliverables
- Maturity and executive presence and ability to navigate and develop relationships at all levels in the organization
- Strong oral and written communication skills – be able to synthesize complex and diverse information and distill down to the key “so what’s”
Base Salary Range: $164,000 - $200,000
CDK Global is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Compensation packages are based on several factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, certifications, and work location.
