  • A Ph.D. (U.S. or foreign equivalent degree) in Art History, Archaeology, or a closely related field is required; ABD candidates nearing completion of the Ph.D. may be considered for an initial Instructor appointment.
  • Specialization in topics involving the Mediterranean world before 1700 is required.
  • Ability to situate Christian visual culture within broader intercultural contexts is expected.
  • Commitment to innovative teaching and mentoring is required.
  • An active scholarly agenda is expected.
  • Applicants must provide a curriculum vitae, a sample course syllabus, and a writing sample during the initial application stage.
  • Applicants must provide a cover letter addressing their interest, teaching ability, commitment to teaching and mentorship, scholarly agenda, and engagement with the university’s mission and convictions.

Responsibilities
  • Teach an introductory undergraduate art history course.
  • Teach upper-level undergraduate art history courses focused on the art history and visual culture of the Mediterranean Crossroads.
  • Develop graduate courses serving students in the Master of Arts in Art History and Visual Culture and Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies programs.
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Maintain an active scholarly agenda.
  • Participate actively in departmental, college, and university service.
  • Give a classroom lecture and research presentation to the faculty if invited to campus as a finalist.
Desired Qualifications
  • Expertise in ancient, medieval, and/or early modern studies.
  • Experience and/or interest in museum studies.
  • Ability to enhance the curriculum with courses that expand current offerings.
