Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience as a heavy civil inspector is desired.
  • The ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail is required.
  • The ability to focus on a defined task for extended periods is required.
  • The ability to use technology, including a phone, laptop, and tablet, in the field and office is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products is required.
  • The employee must pass a pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • The employee must maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required for the position.
  • The employee must pass a pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • The employee must complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing annually.
  • The employee must be able to perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • The employee must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and occasionally ascend or descend step ladders and stairs.
  • The employee must be able to sit and stand for extended periods and regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  • The employee must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals required by the position.
  • The employee must be able to work in loud-noise conditions and around heavy or moving machinery.
  • The employee must be able to work outdoors in hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet.
Responsibilities
  • Read and understand civil construction drawings.
  • Interpret and understand contract specifications and local codes.
  • Interact with crews and client representatives to ensure work meets contract requirements.
  • Perform field equipment audits.
  • Write detailed daily reports.
  • Perform daily inspections and complete checklists on work in the field.
  • Regularly engage in, participate in, and promote Herzog's culture and essential behaviors.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Report all safety violations to the immediate supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a heavy civil inspector.
  • Experience with Procore.
