Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience processing tissues and cells to isolate cells and nuclei is required.
  • Prior experience with library preparation and sequencing-based methods for studying DNA modifications, chromatin accessibility, chromatin structure or modifications, or gene expression is required.
  • Applicants must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team, good interpersonal skills, high dexterity and fine motor movement, and the ability to safely carry containers weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, design, and execute experiments studying epigenetic modifications, chromatin structure, gene expression, and somatic mutations across species, tissue types, and ages.
  • Assist other researchers in the laboratory with preparing and executing experiments.
  • Perform mammalian cell culture using BSL-1, BSL-2, and BSL-2 conditions with BSL-3 safety practices.
  • Perform molecular biology techniques, including DNA, RNA, and protein extractions, polymerase chain reaction, reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction, Western blots, and nucleic acid library preparation for sequencing.
  • Perform cellular biology techniques, including imaging and immunohistochemistry.
  • Perform fluorescence- and luminescence-based high-throughput assays and flow cytometry.
  • Maintain reproducible records of experimental notes, procedures, and analyses.
  • Maintain robust and redundant backups of laboratory data.
  • Participate in regular laboratory meetings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience analyzing long-read sequencing data is preferred.
  • Prior experience with induced pluripotent stem cell culture is preferred.
