Requirements
  • Good communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and the World Wide Web.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including standing, walking, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting or carrying loads of up to 76 pounds or more.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, or current enrollment in a program to achieve the preferred education.
  • Two to four years of experience preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Perform and assist with residents’ direct-care needs and activities of daily living, including lifting, turning, positioning, transporting, bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, grooming, call-light response, range-of-motion activities, ambulation, and bowel and bladder training.
  • Maintain resident rooms through daily, deep, and discharge cleaning, and provide activities and restorative nursing programs that help maintain activities of daily living.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with residents, peers, families, managers, and visitors, and report changes in residents’ physical or mental conditions promptly.
  • Assist nurses with assigned tasks, including measuring and recording vital signs, gathering weights and other resident documentation, making beds, cleaning and organizing living areas, assisting with new admissions, and helping train and orient new staff when assigned.
  • Support resident rights, protect resident confidentiality, and report complaints or allegations of abuse, misappropriation, or other compliance concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Document resident information accurately, promptly, and confidentially in the electronic medical record system.
  • Follow safety, compliance, universal-precaution, infection-control, and equipment-use procedures, and report equipment needs or repairs.
  • Perform food-service duties, including preparing residents for meals, serving food, assisting with eating, providing after-meal care, passing snacks and water or ice, recording food and fluid intake, and reporting changes in eating habits.
  • Complete required annual education, including compliance, privacy, security, and HIPAA training.
  • Manage time effectively, collaborate with others, participate in appropriate problem solving and policy creation, and promote a team approach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
