Requirements
  • Due to contractual agreements with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. citizenship is required for participation in this role.
  • Applicants must be board-eligible or board-certified in Ophthalmology by the time of appointment and be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • Qualified candidates must hold an MD or DO degree and have completed an approved residency program in Ophthalmology, as well as subspeciality training in an ASOPRS-approved fellowship or membership in ASOPRS, with additional appropriate training in Oculoplastics.
  • Academic rank and salary are commensurate with experience and academic credentials.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of Oculoplastics.
  • Demonstrated interest in scholarship and discovery by evidence of basic and/or clinical applied research and publications.
  • Commitment to residents, fellows, and medical students is required.
Responsibilities
  • The Division Director and/or Department Chair is responsible for determining the work assignments.
  • Each faculty member is expected to perform the full range of responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research/scholarship, and service.
  • Clinical services are a component of your faculty responsibility, with or without the presence of a trainee.
  • In consultation with the Department Chair, there will be an opportunity to pursue research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development, and education initiatives, or other activities consistent with the faculty assignment.
  • Faculty members are expected to teach, which may include clinical or didactic teaching and may involve medical students, residents, fellows, undergraduate and graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows.
  • Service commitments will include service at the OSUWMC facilities and other clinical sites as assigned.
  • Active participation in divisional, departmental, and college committee functions is expected.
  • Participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations is also expected.
