Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of mortgage experience is required; two or three years is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, employees, clients, members, and the general public.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and solve problems involving concrete and non-standardized variables.
  • Must register with the federal registry system and maintain good standing under SAFE Act requirements for residential mortgage originations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of member, employee, and Credit Union information.
  • Ability to follow security, regulatory, Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control, Red Flag, Anti-Money Laundering, and other compliance policies.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Solicit outside referrals by attending networking events and meeting with realtors and other applicable parties.
  • Originate first mortgage, home equity, and home equity line of credit loans.
  • Interview applicants to determine financing objectives and goals.
  • Analyze mortgage applications and collect supporting documentation to identify suitable mortgage products based on member needs and financial goals.
  • Educate and update members about the loan process, timing, interest rates, and closing costs.
  • Summarize loan requests, prepare submission packages, and submit them to lending authorities for decisions.
  • Sell loans secured by real property and accept applications in person, by telephone, and through internet applications.
  • Refer consumer loan product cross-sell opportunities to a Consumer Lending Originator.
  • Make outbound calls to members who obtained other loans to pursue their mortgage or home equity business through referrals from a Consumer Lending Originator.
  • Sell supporting products and services offered by PFCU.
  • Complete external business visits and establish referral relationships.
  • Maintain knowledge of Credit Union mortgage products, lending policies, and secondary-market programs available to members.
  • Discuss loan alternatives and closing costs with members.
  • Accept applications sent from branch offices and received by phone.
  • Prepare and send required disclosures.
  • Close mortgage and home equity loans with members as needed.
  • Perform mortgage servicing functions as needed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and security of the work area and equipment.
  • Participate in training opportunities, conferences, educational functions, and meetings as requested by management.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.
  • Follow applicable regulatory and policy compliance requirements.
