Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years of advanced practice provider experience in oncology, unless substituted by completion of an advanced practice provider fellowship in hematology/oncology.
  • Successful completion of a Master's Degree in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing in a recognized advanced practice registered nurse specialty, or a Master's Degree in Physician Assistant/Associate Studies from an accredited program.
  • For the nurse practitioner pathway, current registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse licensure with the Oregon Board of Nursing, Washington Board of Nursing licensure within 90 days of the start date, current national certification in the area of specialization, applicable position certification, and Drug Enforcement Administration certification.
  • For the physician assistant pathway, current physician assistant licensure with the Oregon Medical Board, Washington Medical Board licensure within 90 days of the start date, current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certification, and Drug Enforcement Administration certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and patient management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a daily template of patients, including individuals undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, research, and long-term follow-up care.
  • Provide triage, consultations, pre-treatment visits, urgent visits, and follow-up care.
  • Work collaboratively with clinic management on process improvement projects.
  • Provide education to colleagues, staff, and students.
  • Intermittently provide oversight to the infusion unit and respond to acute infusion reactions and urgent medical issues.
  • Adhere to institutional clinical pathways, guidelines, and policies.
  • After appropriate proctoring, independently perform procedures including bone marrow biopsy and aspiration, lumbar puncture, intrathecal chemotherapy, Omaya reservoir procedures, and skin biopsy.
  • Participate in unit and departmental meetings, monitor organizational communications, respond in a timely manner, and meet institutional and departmental deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
  • Current Basic Life Support or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Experience working with a multiple myeloma patient population.
  • Experience working with clinical trials and experimental therapeutics.
  • Experience with EPIC and Beacon.
  • Hematology/oncology certification.
  • Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning in complex hematologic and oncologic malignancies and cellular therapy patients.
  • Ability to recognize and manage oncologic, chemotherapy, biotherapy, and cellular therapy-related complications, including monitoring and toxicity management.
  • Strong clinical judgment and timely escalation of care for acutely ill and immunocompromised patients.
  • Proficiency performing procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and aspirates, lumbar punctures, and chemotherapy administration.
  • Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams during complex care discussions and transitions of care.
  • Ability to collaborate across oncology, infectious disease, critical care, pharmacy, and case management specialties.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record documentation, order entry, and use of oncology-specific treatment plans and pathways.
  • Ability to educate patients, families, and learners on complex disease processes, treatments, and supportive care needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards related to high-risk therapies and immunocompromised populations.
  • Adaptability in managing evolving therapies, protocols, and clinical workflows in cellular therapy and transplant care.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, regulatory standards such as FACT and CoC, and continuous professional development.
  • Commitment to carrying out job responsibilities in an effective, ethical, and professional manner.
