Requirements
  • Strong experience delivering mechanical and electrical construction projects, preferably within the data centre or mission-critical sector.
  • Previous experience managing Owner Furnished Contractor Installed equipment, owner-supplied equipment, vendor packages, or major mechanical and electrical equipment packages.
  • Experience working with equipment manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers, and specialist vendors.
  • Strong understanding of the delivery lifecycle from design and manufacturing through Factory Acceptance Testing, logistics, installation, commissioning, and handover.
  • Good technical understanding of mechanical and/or electrical building services systems.
  • Experience coordinating complex interfaces between clients, contractors, vendors, and project delivery teams.
  • Strong programme awareness with the ability to identify and manage risks to critical equipment delivery dates.
  • Strong organisational skills and confidence managing multiple equipment packages simultaneously.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end coordination of Owner Furnished Contractor Installed equipment packages.
  • Act as the primary interface between the client, Designer Group project team, original equipment manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain and manage the project Owner Furnished Contractor Installed equipment tracker, including manufacturing status, Factory Acceptance Testing dates, shipping, delivery, installation, and commissioning milestones.
  • Coordinate equipment required-on-site dates against the construction and commissioning programme.
  • Monitor vendor manufacturing and delivery programmes, identifying potential delays or constraints before they impact site activities.
  • Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing requirements and vendor documentation where applicable.
  • Work closely with engineering and design teams to ensure equipment interfaces, technical requirements, drawings, and installation information are fully coordinated.
  • Ensure areas are ready for equipment installation, including access, builders’ works, containment, cabling, pipework, controls, and associated mechanical and electrical interfaces.
  • Coordinate site logistics, including delivery planning, offloading, lifting, movement, storage, and positioning of major equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is inspected on arrival and that damage, shortages, quality issues, and non-conformances are recorded and resolved.
  • Coordinate installation activities with project managers, construction managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and specialist vendors.
  • Manage technical and contractual interfaces between vendor scope, client scope, and Designer Group installation responsibilities.
  • Support commissioning teams with vendor attendance, energisation, start-up, testing, Site Acceptance Testing, and integrated systems testing requirements.
  • Track and resolve Owner Furnished Contractor Installed-related requests for information, technical queries, defects, snags, and outstanding actions.
  • Provide progress reporting on equipment status, programme risks, vendor performance, and critical constraints.
  • Support completion of commissioning records, technical documentation, and turnover packages ahead of project handover.
  • Ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with Designer Group’s environmental, health and safety, quality, and project delivery standards.

  • A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

75 new jobs to be created at new manufacturing facility in Kells. Designer Group, one of Ireland's leading mechanical and electrical engineering companies, has expanded its Modular Manufacturing capability with the opening of a new €10 million facility in Kells, Co. Meath. The company, Designer Group, says the large investment in the 4,000sqm workshop demonstrates its continued commitment to innovation, efficiency, and client value. The new facility is expected to employ up to 75 people over the next five years in a range of positions, including in engineering, fabrication and logistics. Having delivered modular and off-site solutions for several years, this larger, purpose-built workshop will enable Designer Group to scale operations, enhance production capacity and deliver greater value for its clients in the Data Centre, Energy, and pharmaceutical sectors. Components built at the Meath plant will be transported to Designer Group client sites across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
