Requirements
  • Medical knowledge about established and evolving biomedical, clinical and cognate sciences and the application of this knowledge to patient care; knowledge and understanding of patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health as is typically acquired through the completion of a medical degree from an accredited school.
  • Must hold a current active Physician license from the State of Nebraska with no active disciplinary items related.
  • Current D.E.A. certificate required.
  • Current certifications as required per facility credentialing. Put in all provder JDs
  • Attention to detail for up to 90% of work time when assessing, diagnosing and treating patients, synthesizing information related to patient care and accurately documenting care.
  • Analytical skills to research and diagnose patients, review patients' charts, complete patient care documentation, etc.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with regard to protected and sensitive information.
  • Ability to complete reports and correspondence at a professional level.
  • Ability to immediately respond to common inquiries and complaints from patients, employees and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Communication skills necessary to discuss complex healthcare issues with patients, families and other healthcare professionals, collaborate with healthcare team to develop patients' plan of care, etc.
  • Successful completion of required knowledge and training of standard precaution and transmission protocols and when to apply during principle duties and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
  • Gives direct patient care:
  • Takes patient's history.
  • Performs or orders diagnostic tests.
  • Makes diagnoses.
  • Prescribes treatments.
  • Administers or orders vaccinations.
  • Performs follow-up.
  • Educates patients on disease prevention, disease process and health maintenance.
  • Provides medical direction for the clinic's health care activities and consultation for, and medical supervision of, the health care staff.
  • Serves as a member of the hospital's active medical staff and shall abide by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations. Serves on various other committees as assigned.
  • In conjunction with other non-physician providers, participates in developing, executing, and reviewing the clinic's written policies and the services provided to federal program patients every two months.
  • Reviews the clinic's patients' records, provides medical orders, and provides medical care services to the patients of the clinic.
  • Prepares medical records.
  • Prepares clinical reports and correspondences.
  • Participates in patient care activities that could include blood exposure and risk to bloodborne pathogens (eg: lacerations, handling of blood-contaminated specimens, etc.)
  • Responsible for safe bagging and disposal of biohazardous waste.
  • Responsible for following safe-injection practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring the environment meets appropriate governing body standards.
  • Responsible for proper collection, storage and labeling of biological specimens.
  • Ensure patients and visitors follow current infection control guidelines.
  • Maintains patient and staff safety through the use of patient safety tools (Teamstepps, Just Culture, etc.).
  • Regular attendance at the assigned work location is required.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
